I was just wandering. Does anybody put stain and coats of varnish on the absorbers with the wood slats in front of them? Does that effect the function of them?

Well that would depend on the wood - for example - with a fairly porous materials like pine of cedar - it would effect them quite a bit - the more varnish (probably urethane) that you put on them the greater the higher frequencies they would reflect, But - if you took a very dense wood - Teak for example, or oak - or yellow pine (a very hard softwood) - then it wouldn't make a whole lot of difference - I hope that helped........ YEs it did. I'm gonna stain and varnish now! :P I don't know what kind of wood though. I saw some colored stain that was cool.
