Steve,
I'm at a point now where I need to do some insulation work in my entire basement (we are finishing the WHOLE basement as well as the studio... talk about a pain).
Anyhow, by code, when the house was built they insulated the outside walls with regular fiberglass insulation. I need to purchase some additional insulation for some other walls and had a thought... maybe I should pull the fiberglass insulation from the outside walls of the studio area and use that elsewhere... then replace it with rockwool for ALL of the studio walls and ceiling.
I checked with the city, and they said as long as it maintains the same R value, there is no problem doing that.
So, the question is - Do I gain much by putting rockwool insulation in the walls and ceiling of the studio area versus just using regular old fiberglass batting?
I can buy both locally at a reasonable price and I need to buy something one way or another.
Thanks,
Jim

It depends on what you are trying to do. If you are going to build a room inside a room, the pink fluffy stuff is generally accepted. You might want to post some pictures and diagrams and explain what you want to accomplish.
