I do not know if this product is only available in Canada, but one of my teacher has been talking me into Finex panels http://www.gofinexpert.com/html/accueil.html These panels are 1600 kg/m3 and you can manipulate them just like plywood. Seems like a good idea for sound isolation (especially for low frequencies). Has anyone ever heard of concrete 4x8 panels that could be used to replace drywall? (sorry if the website is in french, I did not find the English version). Thanks
Anyone ever heard of replacing drywall with concrete panels???
Really no one???
Thanks for bumping. Seems we're a bit shy on experts with time to spare these days. I don't speak French, so the site is not of much use to me... ...But I'm guessing it's similar to what we in the US know as Durock, Hardiboard, or Wonderboard (all of which are competing Cement Backerboard products). Two sheets of drywall probably outperform one sheet of that stuff. Drywall is a lot easier to work with too. I'm pretty sure you'd spend less money on two layers of drywall than one layer of cement backerboard, even if you're hiring a pro to do the work. --Keith
I agree with Keith, 2 sheets of drywall are easier to install. InFrance you can find now 0,6mx 2,1m, instead of 1,2mX2,1m. Very easy for ceiling and small rooms.
