But I bet what you'd really like to see is the kitchen, isn't it?
I so hope that wasn't a 'dig' dude, but whatever, may I be the first to congratulate you on a truly awesome finish. 'Gobsmacking' floor, lovely carpentry, and everything else you've shown is nothing short of a beautifull environment.
I remember earlier in the year, your posts of your available space, and again say - 'top job' for making it all work so well for you!
Warmest regards,
Lou. 8)

is that acoustic ducting?
did you buy the hrv direct from vent-axia?

Hi guys,
Let me first say Lou, that my last comment wasn't a dig in any way.... I don't even know why it would be - possibly an in joke that I'm not aware of? I only put that comment as you have to put a comment when you post pictures and this was the last one I had left to put up, and so had to put something... Sorry if I offended. Thanks very much for your nice comments, looking back at some of the pictures is only when it starts to dawn on you how much work you've put in....
Joey - below are a couple of pics of the 'silencer boxes' that I made up. Pretty basic (the budget was looking bad at this point) and I've got absolutely no way of knowing how effective they are - the whole thing was put together at once so I just don't know. The unit itself is quite noisy in the 'office' and the noise in the recording rooms are fine to work with (most of the time) so they must be doing something.
It's just standard ducting which I got from a air-con suppliers locally after much hassle. Vent-Axia won't sell directly to the public so you have to find a dealer in your area, but this isn't a problem as they are quite a big company. Go to their website and they have a full list on there.
All the best, Jamie.
Are you able to share the final budget with us?
By the way, this is what I would define as a "dream studio". Just the right size, "doable" by most, and SOOOO tastefully done.
Brilliant!
Cheers guys, I really appreciate your comments.
The final budget? Well, I spent about £25,000 in all, but that included everything - including gear. I had two mics and a Hammond organ when I started the build in Jan of this year, so I had to fully equip the studio, pretty much from scratch. Roughly speaking it was £10,000 on gear (not including one on-going lease for the Pro Tools) and £15,000 on the building and fixtures and fittings.
I think the end result has certainly been worth the money spent, and I've had a comment from a very experienced studio chap who said he thought I'd spent twice as much, so I'm very pleased. But the whole thing couldn't have been done without massive help from my Dad (who moved back to England for four months to help me build it), my wife (who, despite being pregnant at the time, was prepared to almost single handedly paint the place) and loads of friends who helped out with favours.
I feel very lucky right now, and I'm now working like a dog to prove to everyone that all their efforts were worth it!
All the best, Jamie.
