THE GAP!!

This mighth be a dumb question but, Acoustical and aesthetically what do I do in the gap between two "room within room" walls? They would need to be sealed with out coupling each build together? yes? Also between two glass sliding doors, visually as your walking through them do you just see in between the two outer rooms as you look left/right

Hi Lilith, Fair quiz - yes I opted for loosely packing insulation - not too tight or you may recouple the walls. Then around the doors use some black acoustic rubber (like what goes underneath laminate flooring) - loosely place it in there to hide the insulation. Looks OK to me. 8) As for the outside wall join do the same but maybe place a wooden architrave on one wall covering the join but about 5-10mm away from other wall - again avoiding recoupling them. With your studio and such practice you WILL get gaps - if you are really worried re aesthetics there is always cloth.... Take Care PS Your MySpace has no way of adding friends - by design? ;)

well, in my world (I'm not an expert) that kind of thing will never happen. on the sketch you supplied there's just two rooms separated on one side and still touching the outer walls, maybe it's just a fast and not that precise sketch but it looks like the two rooms you depict are still coupled. it's hard to make out from the sketch, but to me it looks like the walls you have are just the first leaf and on the outside you'll be putting your second leaf, right? I'd build that second leaf as one separate wall. and yes, you will still have gaps, but hopefully only in the spaces you can see when you open a door. Those spaces you can easily cover with something like molton firegraded cloth or something similar. a :arrow:

HI, yes of course the 2nd leaf, I thought of it last night in my sleep. Yes that was just a dumby SKp. I do my "internet research" at work :shock: and my designing at home. Between the 2 door frames was a half decent question though. :oops: Thanks for the response. Yes when I first set up the "my space" I didn't want a huge list of random ppl making it look messy. Having heaps of trouble with it ATM. They won't allow me to change my email account. So I can't do much with the page till then. I love your site sideshow! You look like my kinda ppl.
