Hi, i like this forum. Thanks guys!
I'm in the middle of the design process of my basement studio. There is another thread:
http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8224
I want to know if there are some basic (min) sizes defined for drum and vocal booth?
That will help me design and make decisions.
Are the SchetchUp components like drum kits which are on scale to help
me draw?
Thanks,
Jeroen
drum/vocal booth sizes

There are probably some room ratios (height / width / depth) to consider, but speaking from a practical standpoint you really need at least a inside dimension of 5 foot by 6 foot with a 7 foot or so height to work for vocals to not sound boxy. I have a booth this size and it sounds fine. I have actually fit my small Jazz drum kit in there and recorded, but most folks would feel penned in.
A minimum size for drums (typical 5 piece kit) would be closer to 7 foot by 9 foot for some room with the tallest height you caan get away with for hanging a bunch of absorbers.
Smaller rooms typically have to be fully absorbed on the walls and ceiling because it is next to impossible to have the room sound "good " by itself.
My opinion (and experiance) obviously.

Thanks tmix!
I'm going to try that. I think i can make a drum booth at a size of 10 x 8 foot (3 x 2.7 m)
You told about the hight. It's without any modification 8 foot.
Is that to high?
No,
The taller the better.
Good luck.
