When you're piercing the tube open, hold the back of it. I was in the process and the next thing I knew the back popped off and the entire tube landed on my shoe!
Just think how much that shoe increased in value!! Plus its probably pretty quiet now for your toes and heel.  (juss kiddin around) 8) Anyway, Good advice!!
Ack!! What a mess! Worse than stepping in chewing gum! :x Thanks for the tip. I've had my share of minor Green Glue mishaps myself, but fortunately, surely nothing like that one. --Keith
just figured i'd add that this happened to me too. the cap/seal that the gun presses into came flying out the bottom on the floor. i had to get a spackling trowel and immediately scoop it up and smear on a ready(luckily) piece of drywall. good thing my floor wasn't installed yet. phew.
You guys should call the manufacturer (Green Glue Company) and talk to Ted. Let him know what happened. It could be that there's a defect in the manufacturing process that may not know about yet. In my first case of Green Glue, the tubes were made of cardboard, just like Liquid Nails and OSI acoustic sealant. However, apparently they are made of plastic now. I actually like the plastic tubes better, personally... FYI, I did not actually pierce the tip -- I sliced it off with a utility knife. That may make the difference. --Keith
it wasn't a huge deal, more of a quick scare. i sliced off the tip too, but it happened when i was piercing the foil inside. it was almost like there was too much pressure in the tube, and piercing the foil triggered a release on both ends.
