finally!! the table is finished and installed. See my post in the studio furniture sticky for the sketch. it'll still take some time until all the gear is put in place, but I'm happy with the result and the nice oak finish (probably needs another layer of timberex oil).

and THIS is the reason why it took such a long time, i've been in a cast for 2 months and still have a third to go... sigh. :(

Andreas, I'm really sorry about your pain - I wish you as speedy a recovery as possible  Your racks/desk look really nice, pretty amazing for a 1-armed carpenter  Hopefully the racks are tall enough that your woofers are NOT halfway between ceiling and floor? Steve

well, thanks! but as you could see from the picture I got help making this one.
Hopefully the racks are tall enough that your woofers are NOT halfway between ceiling and floor?
If i put the speakers on top of the racks as depicted they'll end up centered at 1100mm and the ceiling currently starts at 2450mm When i did my last room mode calculation it seemed to be a good position. There's going to be a trap behind the whole table (slot resonator) and a cloud with an angle of 4° (actually lowering the ceiling above the table a bit). Can you see any obvious flaws in this position? best a ps. thanks Ro
well thanks for that short and direct answer :P the next stage is making the backwall behind the desk. It'll be a slot resonator with a pretty wide spectrum, made out of the same oak as the desk, I think it'll look good to have an overall oak finish in the CR and I'll keep the LR as white and bright as possible (I don't like the common dark dungeons people use to build). a
"well thanks for that short and direct answer" Once in a while I have to prove to everyone (including me) that I really CAN be succinct  Steve
Well, succinctness CAN be a blessing... especially for all of you "forum gurus" out there. a

I don't even know the meaning of that word... ;-) --Keith
succinct |s?(k)?si ng (k)t| adjective (esp. of something written or spoken) briefly and clearly expressed : use short, succinct sentences. See note at terse . DERIVATIVES succinctly adverb succinctness noun ORIGIN late Middle English (in the sense [encircled] ): from Latin succinctus ‘tucked up,’ past participle of succingere, from sub- ‘from below’ + cingere ‘gird.’ and.. succinct adjective what is your succinct appraisal of our situation? concise, short (and sweet), brief, compact, condensed, crisp, laconic, terse, to the point, pithy, epigrammatic, synoptic, gnomic; formal compendious anyways, the oak panels for the wall has arrived, will be posting pictures... but probably in the building diary, not in this thread. a
Can't wait to see the reaction to that! From anyone, that's an impressive comand of the English Language, from someone who happens to be from Sweeden however, it's nothing short of oustanding. I must warn you though, that someone will doubtless point out that it's either: the oak panels for the wall have arrived, or, the oak panel for the wall has arrived, not a mixture of the two. Cracking job on that console BTW. 8) Regards, Lou.
or, it cut'n'paste from the dictionary. :o :o :o :o :o thanks for the kinds words. Now the actual fun part with this build begins, installing the preamps and getting the gear hooked up properly. 8) finally! a
You're clearly a cool Guy Andreas, and I'm glad you have the 'dryness' of an English sense of humour.  Take care, and much success with your build. Warm regards, Lou. 8)
I'm sorry... That was sarcasm. :-) My saying "I don't know the meaning of that word" actually means "I'm never sussinct myself." e.g., one who is losing his hearing because of spending too much time at 110db concerts without earplugs "doesn't know the meaning of the word 'earplugs.'" ;-) I'm usually the one who takes things very literally, so my apologies to those I may have confused with my lame sense of humor. :P --Keith
Yeah, but the real funny bit Keith, is that I knew full well that's exactly what you meant, after having read so many of your posts!  There - everyone's happy and smiling! :D I so love these forums. Regards, Guys, Lou. 8) (PS you and Steve have honestly, on occasions, have had me roaring!)
Wow, it's hard to imagine a discussion of the word "succinct" being so.... not.
I don't believe it - you've just gone and done it again!   Cheers, Lou. 8)
:?: this is turning into a linguistic battle of sorts, but hey, I kind of like it... very off topic but still. I'll dig up my diary and link it to this one as soon as them oak panels arrive. a
Now you're talking, we' got you back, and we're kind of gonna' need you Dude 8) ! Pm or email me and I'll try and explain! Warm regards, Lou. 8)
