Like these? http://www.saecollege.de/reference_mate ... encies.htm Will this cut down on some of the escaping TL from my 3rd leaf design? For those not familiar, i am building a room in room garage conversion. So i will be having the existing garage roof (4 layers of roof asphalt tile and i sheet osb on framing), then garage ceiling (2 layers sheetrock w/blown insulation), then the new room ceiling (2 layers sheetrock w/r19 on top). I was thinking of making some of these to put up in the attic to pick up any sound making its way through the obvious comprimise of my build.
bmp?
I was thinking the same thing myself. I figure it can’t hurt. I guess the problem is if the cost involved is warranted when it may be put to other uses such as another layer of mass on a leaf or better sealing of the gaps around the door etc. Sorry mate I am not an acoustic technician. I am on a big learning curve myself. But if you have the stuff already and it is no big deal to put it up there, I figure go for it, it can’t hurt. I would imagine that there is few reliable tests to see if this procedure gives the most low frequencies absorption for the buck $$$. Hope this helps if at not just for the bump. :D

Thanks. I will tame most of the TL in my room in room design by just the sheer mass and amount of air gap i am using, along with 24"oc construction and GG ceiling. However, i do have this 3rd leaf attic and i am kinda concerned but not overly so. Its at the point were if i want to do something, even small like throwing up some bass absorbers in there, then i can do it now before i seal up the ceilings. I don't want to have to go up in the attic anymore because i am blowing in cellulose and dont want to walk all over it later again. I don't know how many i would need to make or where to put them, it is all a guess IMO unless Rod or someone else here has any ideas???
