Hello everyone,
Im finally ready to start tuning my control room and wanted to share my ideas and see if anyone has any suggestions or feedback on my ideas. Basically what im doing is turning an upper room of my house into a control room and using the garage and room below this one to track in...but im not there yet. So I have posted with this some sketches including all room measurements and window sizes and locations for the control room. I've read alot of the posts here and have come up with a few things i think ill do. So i plan on placing bass traps in all 4 corners 8ft high and 36" wide with 3.5" mineral wool. Then around the room I'd place 18" square absorber panels where the speakers are projecting to, and in behind, and use them to cut down on reflections especially between parallel walls. as well as trying to cut the rooms reverb time down to between .3 and .5 of a second. I dont know if i need diffusion or diffraction....i know it depends alot on the rooms size...and i really have no clue here. I wanted to optimize the skylight in the upper back of the room as a bass trap? is this a good idea? and then hang a cloud over the mix position to maybe optimize the roof design of this room...though not sure what size. For now there are thick curtains over the windows...should i change this and if so to what? Other than this Im kinda in the dark as to what else could or should be done. I am also thinking of switching the carpet out to laminate....i know this will drastically change the sound of the room....is it worth it for the expense? Any more info or help is greatly appreciated...thanks
