I have "inherited" a single car garage from a friend. it was used as a rehersal space previously. it currently has a combination of sheetrock/703/carpet on the walls. The ceiling is fitted with 703/705 etc. I am attempting to refurb it into a tracking/control studio. nothing fancy - mostly project studio. the garage is 20L x 10W x 10 H because of contarctual retraints I am unable to do much construction (other than removable). what is the best way to go about structuring the space for optimum usability? I have a 5'L control desk I'd like to fit into the mix room. I would like to plan the best use of space. the tracking room will include a basic drumkit as well. would like to be able to record a full band. any help layout design wise for the specs would be greatly appreciated.
Can you post a current layout and some pictures? Carpet is usually not recommended for the walls. It doesn't stop much sound from escaping and only kills the high frequency reflections in the room. Then the room sounds dull and bassy.
