Hi there, Ok the floor is about to go in on the studio and first thing first I am trying to get the neoprene pucks happening. I have found a place about 300km away(I'm on the Sunshine Coast) that can sell me the appropriate neoprene durometer density, 55, and the depth 15mm. It is very expensive(for me anyway) ! What I wanted to enquire is if i use this density around the outer edges of the floor (where the load bearing walls will be) is it possible to use a lower density neoprene(45)(less than 1/2 the price) in all the other areas which aren't near the walls, or do i have to use the same expensive one evrywhere ?? Also I know I have to have 25mm of Neoprene on each side larger than the wood...but what does the length have to be ?? The wood is 70mm wide and the gaps are 450mm ,so the puck is 120mm wide but what should the length be ?? Square, less, doesn't matter ?? The builder comes in 24 hours so I have to get this organised when its 300km away by then ! Any help gratly appreciated, Cheers N Y M O
Nymo, just saw this and am wondering where you stand as of today? Waiting til 24 hours before the builder starts isn't the time to sort out durometer, sizing of pucks, or even WHETHER you should float a floor - is there a link to what you plan to build? Without that, I'd have no idea what to suggest. Generally, we don't recommend floating floors these days because it's too hard to make sure a person has the need, knowledge, budget and construction to allow a proper floating floor to be built. Let us know more, if it isn't too late already... Steve
