Good symmetry?

Hi, I've posted about this specific ctrl room before, still haven't quite found a right approach for it. The back wall is my main concern, since I really need the seating capacity and the seperate entrances, it really doesn't give lots off options. Would a rearwall like this cause any problems in the frequency response of the room? I'd stuff it with absorbers and hangers, but the lefthand corner seems a bit to uneven. Another question is; in between two doors, one in each decoupled wall, what's the best way to fill up the side gaps. Insulation on fibreboard? Would this not react as a coupling between the two frames?? I'm kinda stressed out a little, since this my first ever design, and after a lot of reading and analyzing, I'm still kinda worried about spending 20+ K on a design. And what to say about the live room, is an 'L' shape like this acceptable?? I'd like to place separate booths in this room, for isolating amps/cabinets. Would the upper right corner be a good place to accomodate these?? Thanks, Ace

Aloha and welcome to the forum, Ace Any chance you could attach your skp file? Aloha 8)
Ok, here goes, I think I'm kinda getting there, I don't have a lot of options with this specific room setup, it's all very long and not too wide. I've got an empty file with no furniture, the second one has the console, rack and sofas in it, makes it easier for imaginiong possibilties imho. Any thoughts on ceiling for ctrl and liveroom? The original ceiling is about 2.95m height and has load bearing beams (about 20cm deep) the entire width of the building. I'd put some sheeting in between and make the framed ceiling (wooden beams (maybe with RC), insulation and two layers of gypsum) about 10cm lower, that will make the inner walls about 2.40-2.50m high. Thanx for any future advice!! Grtz, Ace
.. apparently the attachment wasn't quite that attached... Does this work in the same way as a picture file?? Cause it doesn't sem to accept it. I am by thge way using an expired license version, this the problem? Ace
...found it here you go.

Aloha Ace, Thanks for posting your skp file. Had to resize your pics (forum guidelines) How tall are your ceilings: - in the control room? - in the live room? Aloha 8)
Hey Ken, regarding the ceiling, Ive posted about them about four posts up, ceiling is now about 2.95m, with rthe floating floor and new ceiling the inner walls will be aprox. 2.45M Grtz Ace
it might also help to tell us your requirements so we know what you are looking for in terms of music, isolation, work habits, etc... for instance, why are you floating the floor? is the private residence yours? or someone elses? if its an elderly couple who really don't want to hear the 45th take of "my rage impodes me" death metal ballad, then you probably have an impossible task ahead of you...
Glenn you kill Me!!!!!!!!!!!
Aloha Ace, Concerning your control room symmetry, perhaps something like this? Aloha 8)

Hey guys, concerning the plans, it's a private house, a friend of mine owns it and he's in on the scheme as well, so he won't be complaining at all. The left hand wall, on Kendale 's pic, upper wall, is facing neighbours at about 3.5 metres away. So it's a separate building. Thanx for your proposal Kendale, I have to say, what about getting into the live room? There might be a possibility to make the right side a sliding window, but then I think it's gonna be to tight for any large equipment to pass through once the 4048 is installed. And another thing is, I'd hate to have the band running through the controle room with tons of heavy amps and stuff everytime I have a recording. And I'm losing the back window (meaning no daylight), and the left hand door in the outside wall is a real bigass one, so stuffing this one and making a new one in the wall just accross seems a bit harsh to me. I'll be thinking this through some more. thanx Ace
Aloha Ace,

Okay, I'll do a revision with those points in mind. Aloha 8)
not sure how big your equipment is or if the live room or CR is more important. here's one idea.

Aloha Ace, Here are a couple of revisions with their pros/cons Revision #1 Pros • retains separate musician/equipment access to live room • retains daylight window in place • front door remains in place Cons • loss of direct line of sight between control room/live room Possible suggestions/solutions • Video monitor of live/iso rooms Revision #2 Pros • retains daylight window in place • front door remains in place • retains line of sight between control room/live room Cons • loss of musician access entry/hallway Possible suggestions/solutions • Install double doors in live room for access Either way allows you to establish control room symmetry and maximizes your control room dimensions for your owner/clients/console. Hope this helps, Aloha 8)

Hey Kendale, aloha back at ya, thanx for the designs, I'm gonna try to incorporate them into the design, see what can be done. The north wall on your design is facing the neighbours garden, his property so not an option. No eyecontact with musicians is a big disadvantage, that's one I wouldn't wanna rule out. We'll have to check what an extra door in the outer walls would cost us, 'cause we're on a strict budget. What do you think about the shape of the live room? Would it be better to have the walls parallel and then treat them afterwards? Or is this the good way? Seems to me the building part would be more difficult. Thanx, Ace
