Hi to everybody, I`m new at this forum and I`d really appreciate some help... I want to upgrade my home studio. It`s two really small rooms and I got to have really low noise coming out `cause of the neighbors. The house walls are made of Adobe and are about 30 cm thick witch I think could help isolating better. I`m a little concerned of bass related issues I could have in this room sizes and I have no idea how to prevent this. My budget is around 4,000 dlls including A/C. I`m attaching some pics, Also I have the skp file i you need it. Thanks in advance for your help!! Roy

Aloha and welcome to the forum! Congrats on your studio build. Any chance you could post your skp file? Aloha 8)
Thanks! Here is the SKP file. I removed all details so it could fit in the uploader. Also, the window hole is not yet done so I could change the proportions. Please tell me what do you think.... Rock & roll!

Wow! That`s a lot better than what I had... I was thinking of making one of the walls of the live room of exposed brick or mampostery to get a little brighter sound. Are those speakers the Dynaudio Air 15? I was thinking of getting them for that room! What do you think of the ceilling`s height? Thanks for your advice! Roy
Aloha,
Wow! That`s a lot better than what I had...
Glad to hear it's on the right track.
I was thinking of making one of the walls of the live room of exposed brick or mampostery to get a little brighter sound.
There's a thread around here somewhere about the pros/cons in using brick/stone/etc in room acoustics. A combination of hardwood floors and John's side wall slat absorbers help to even out the room response while keeping the the room "live." You can check them out here: http://www.johnlsayers.com/HR/index1.htm

The pics are the Air 6's. (Wish I had a pair!) For the size of room you have, the Air 15's may be too much speaker for the room, maybe/maybe not.
What do you think of the ceilling`s height?
Height is fine, if that's what you've got to work with. You may want to avoid sitting with your ears at the mid point floor to ceiling. Also, an angled cloud or two above the mix position will also help to break up reflections between the floor/ceiling surfaces. I'll try to have a couple of ideas posted soon, Aloha 8)
Thanks a lot man! I was checking your Kendale`s Studio thread and it gave me an a lot better understanding of your idea... I think I`ll go for that desing so the first thing to do is some demolition! It`ll be nice to see some ideas for the clouds. I was also checking the links for the wall units, do you think I should build the corner absorbers as the are in there or just go for the side wall ones? Thanks for your interest! I apreciate it Roy
Aloha Roy,
I was checking your Kendale’s Studio thread and it gave me an a lot better understanding of your idea...I think I’ll go for that design so the first thing to do is some demolition!
I'm glad the thread was helpful. Perhaps before you demo your walls it may be prudent to check out your local building codes (if any) and price out the materials you'll need. I'm not sure what building materials, insulation, sliding glass & solid core doors go for where you are, but it may be a good idea to see if your budget will allow for the improvements.
It’ll be nice to see some ideas for the clouds.

I was also checking the links for the wall units, do you think I should build the corner absorbers as the are in there or just go for the side wall ones?
Yes, no, it depends. Which room are you referring to?
I’m a little concerned of bass related issues I could have in this room sizes and I have no idea how to prevent this.
I don't think you can prevent bass related issues in your space (short of not recording/playing any music) but you can take steps to treat your room for them as best as you can with bass traps, absorbers, etc.. Aloha 8)

Well, fortunately building materials are pretty affordable here in Mexico but I`ll check the budget before starting so I don`t get stuck in the process. Thanks for the cloud examples... I was referring to the control room for the wall units. But I think it goes too for the live room. Now I have to check if I should install double solid doors for the entrances witch I think I should due the thickness of the walls. You`ve been incredible helpful! Thanks Roy
Kendale, Any chance you could post the .skp file of your ideas? Thanks!!!
Aloha Roy, BTW, this file was done in SketchUp 6. Hope this helps, Aloha 8)
