Quadratic diffusers anyone use/heard them? Just a simple question, has anyone experienced the effects of a Quadratic diffuser? I have read a lot about them and considered building one myself but I would be keen to hear from you guys if it is all it is cracked up to be? The depths of the wells are in a particular ratio (which I might be able to find again). I figure they could be easily made from sheet metal and plywood routed to house them. The matter of filling the depths may be just taping some pre-cut veneer wood in the wells and then clueing them. A commercial unit

They also come in 3d units too From a layperson’s perspective (mine), the idea is that it spreads a given series of sound frequencies an almost uniform spread 180o. The depth and with of the wells will change the band of frequencies that they spread. It is supposed to give the listener the impression of a larger space. I hear some “professional” studios use them when their control room is under the crucial 1500 square feet. A basic series So anyone experienced them? Do they do what I understand that they do?
Welcome to RSD! Diffusors, quadratic, primitive root, polycylindrical etc are a standard tool in the studio designer's tool kit. Yes, they do what is written about them. Enjoy! Andre
