Hello Everyone, I've searched thru alot of the posts and haven't really found another nearly square building matching my dimensions. I've seen some very nice plans,...but I don't know how I could fit them into my space. I have a pre-existing wood framed structure i'm going to convert to a project studio. It has 8' ceilings,...bare concrete floors,...and it's just 4 walls right now. There's absolutely no interior walls. The property is very secluded,..so sound is not a problem. I record acoustic drums, guitar, bass, and keys. I'd like a "live room",..a small vox booth,...and a control room/mix room. Here is what I was thinking,...but I'm really not qualified on this. Are my dimensions o.k.?

oh,....and yes I looked at the sample sae plans,...but i'm confused about the sizes of these rooms,.....the control rooms look great,...but how big are they,....is 8' wide enough,......10'? I feel like I'm going to use up alot of room for the mix/control room,....and not leave enough for a drum/ live room.
Hi Seth, you don't want square walls for your studio. My own space is 15x17, just a bit smaller than yours. If it were me, I'd probably put in a vocal booth, but leave the rest of the space a one-room studio. You definitely want to design everything around the control room, then use the space left over intelligently for your booth and/or live room.
if outside isolation isn't a problem you could try something like this. one or more clouds in each room to break up the floor-ceiling reflections, a couple of carpets to soften the floor a bit. I'd just do a polished concrete floor. easy, cheap, durable. if you need more interior isolation, double up the interior walls in an STC 63 configuration. all rooms connected by glass windowed doors. flip the outside door as needed for workflow...
