hello guys, i'm new in this forum and really thrilled by the huge amount of knowhow regarding room acoustics available here :) I would like to build some kind of "portable broadband absorbers" (maybe like those "Freeport XT" from primacoustic) to create a good acoustic environment for vocal recordings in my bedroom. The plan is to put 3 or 4 of them around the singer to remove that annoying echo-reverb-noise of the room from my recordings. And not to forget the acoustic guitar recorded also in my bedroom. If i put the absorbers half circular in the back of the singer , what should i put in front of the singer/mic when singing against a concrete wall? I have found this guidance from John (http://johnlsayers.com/Stuff/Draw1.pdf) to create a portable gobo. Is this a proper absorber for vocal/acoustic guitar recordings? Could you please give me some advice how to go about that? Thanks a lot in advance :) Solari
Hi Ro,
What's your goal (bass, mid/high frq) or are you aiming at isolation?
As i mentioned above, i'm aiming for some "portable broadband absorbers" to get rid of this roomy "echo-reverb-noise" from my vocal and acoustic guitar recordings. So i need absorption, NOT isolation. I think the frequency range of vocals and acoustic guitar is located somwehere in between 500Hz and 10kHz (?), but i'm not sure, so let's say mid/high frequency. Hence i think i need a broadband absorber, NOT a bass trap in the first place. Thanks for the link, i will read it :) Solari
