Hi folks...
Well, basically, my ceilings are 8' high, but I'd like to build a booth in one of my rooms. But after doing some sketches, I only get about 6" clearance from the new ceiling to my head!
Does anyone have good suggestions/links for info on building rooms in a room without a 21' ceiling?
or could you suggest something by looking at this graphic?

Aloha,
Any chance you could redure the size of your pic down to about 700 pixels wide? This will keep from having to scroll back & forth, which makes reading the posts difficult and less inviting to respond. It's also part of the forum guidelines. Thanks! Perhaps you could consider John's "inside-out" design for your ceiling, depending on how much iso you need.could you suggest something by looking at this graphic?
Hi Kendale!
Sorry about the pic size....thanks for letting me know.
My 'existing ceiling' is acutally a suspended ceiling with simple ceiling tiles hanging on an aluminum frame (like an office space). The REAL ceiling is 2' higher. In that space is electrical and HVAC tubes running everywhere.
So, I'm actually going to have less iso than normal because I only have a false ceiling in my current space. So the iso booth ceiling will actually be my first real ceiling in the room...
anyhoo...I was thinking of using 2x6 for the ceiling joists, because my longest span is about 16'...hmmm.....
