Hi my friends I have this space on a second floor in a truck station I need to change into a studio and rehearsal space for my band I will need to build a control room and a small ISO booth the ceiling is going from 1.56 m in the ends to 3,10 m in the middle then going back to 2.24 m. What would be a good idea for a control room and ISO booth I supply drawings of the space and also for the first floor who I will share with the truck station and the Fishing shop (on second floor also) so i will not have to think about those things in the studio The space is in a industrial area so I dont have to worry a lot about neigbours. And you maybe ask How I can have studio with a shop and a truck station Well Its about 500 people living in my town and the Man who have the fishing shop is my band ex Guitarist and the truck company is my bands main sponsor, move all the gear for us for free supply us the house and the only thing we have to do is to play on their party one time a year and their buissnesses are only open until 16:00 weekdays so we will not interupt each other at all. Thanks a lot J. Ægir I. Iceland

Aloha and welcome to the forum, Could you provide some info regarding:
space on a second floor in a truck station
There have been several concerns regarding psf loads for studios built above ground floors. Is your building able to support the additional weight incurred with a studio build + equipment + members? One way to find out is to retain the services of a structural engineer (if you have one available in your town) and have him assess the proposed situation for you.
change into a studio and rehearsal space for my band + control room & small ISO booth
How big/many members/instruments/sound system in your band?
- the ceiling is going from 1.56 m in the ends to 3,10 m in the middle then going back to 2.24 m.
More on this in a bit
- share with the truck station and the Fishing shop (on second floor also) so i will not have to think about those things in the studio - The space is in a industrial area so I dont have to worry a lot about neigbours.
Excellent news! If you have any pics of the actual space and any particular challenges, that would be helpful. Looking forward to your build, Aloha 8)
Thanks for the reply: Quote: space on a second floor in a truck station The second floor is built like a tank they even kept 3 cars up there at one time but my band is six piece but like last show we did we were 10 ( a lot of full sized backup singers) Quote: - it should have said the ceiling is going from 1.56 m in one end up to 3,10 m in the middle then going down to 2.24 m. in the other end
igorvst - you said you wanted a control room and iso booth - do you also require a rehearsal space, i.e. live room?? Could you also post the .skp file of the layout. cheers john
Thanks for the reply Yes I will need a live/rehearsal room I post the .skp file ( studio 4) Thanks

And for more info: the staircase box could possibly be shortend by about 90 cm in the lower end ( the taller just have to watch their heads). And the wall separating the space from the fishing shop is still to be build so the door can practically be anywhere on that wall.
Exactly where does the staircase go?? You couldn't provide some pics??
I just posted one idea Im little bit confused of how to make most of the space. I shortend the staircase 1 meter that will be totally safe for the avarage men. I kind of want the Control room to be in the part I put it Because I think if it is in the end near the door then everybody would have to walk trough the control room to accsess the live room and I pretty much want the control room to be locked when I´m not in the building. Ideas??

Aloha, Just happened to notice that your ceiling height along the west wall is only 1.560m (perhaps a bit on the short side, eh?) and would slant sideways across the control room (better to have it slant upward from the front of the control room to the rear.) John Sayers on ceiling height SAE site - http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html
I suggest that a control room ideally should be at least 6m x 5m with a minimum ceiling height of 2.4m. (19’7” x 16’4” x 7’9”)
I understand the desire for the lock down, but is that set in stone or negotiable? Aloha 8)
