This is a two part question so i'll start off with what im going to be working with. Im getting a house built next year and I want to build a room just for my studio in the basement. One of the rooms are going to be 20'x16' and I felt that would be more than enough room to do it in.
Now the questions that I want to ask is;
1. What should I tell the builders, on how thick the walls should be, what should it be insulated with and should I get the floor carpeted or make it a hardwood floor?
2. How thick should the glass be to seperate the studio from the vocal booth, (which is going to be in the same room)?
3. Whats a good size room for a vocal booth?
Any other suggestions on things I should look for or do would be appreciated, I just want to do everything right the first time...
Suggestions for a new layout??

So I guess no one has any ideas...
Aloha and welcome to the forum, :D
The moderators and those offering suggestions are doing so without charge and as their schedules allow. Like you, most are really busy with work, family, building their own studios and life in general, so don't be discouraged if it takes a little while for someone to chime in. Almost every question has been covered here at some point, it's really just a matter of doing a little research using the search function, and ALOT of reading. After you've a few ideas down, a floor plan with measurements (l x w x h) and as much other info as possible about your project, post it and then I'm sure you'll see alot more responses. As do we. It's great that you're before the fact rather than after :wink:I just want to do everything right the first time...
see above linksWhat should I tell the builders, on how thick the walls should be
Depending on what & where you're insulating, OC 703, Roxul AFB @ 2.5 pcf and the pink fluffly stuff has been covered throughout the above links :wink:what should it be insulated with
Most have opted for hardwood/concrete flooring (with area rugs if necessary) and acoustically treated ceilings of some sort. A search on "clouds" will prove fruitful.should I get the floor carpeted or make it a hardwood floor?
See links above :wink:How thick should the glass be to seperate the studio from the vocal booth, (which is going to be in the same room)?
Again, see links above/search feature. Hope this helps point you in the right direction. Aloha 8)Whats a good size room for a vocal booth?
