I'm in the planning/research stages. Basically, my budget is $1,000-$1,500. The outer walls of this structure are made out of those large cinder blocks. Next door to this building is a 24hr. answering service business that i cannot disturb.I need help designing the main control room for the building I'm about to lease on the corner lot of a strip mall.I would like to make the best out of the existing structures roof except for the vocal booth. The room is oddly shaped with high 12ft ceiling.I'm wanting to make a go of it with my Dad & Uncle who are bricklayers. Any ideas would truly be appreciated. .

Hi,
Looks like a REALLY tall ask with the neighbours and the budget.
I suggest you spend a month or two just reading the ideas contained here and come up with an informed suggestion yourself (then others here will be more inclined make some suggesions to help you) - and get some serious books on the subject (you will find them mentioned in the stickies).
Sorry to appear negative but if I had $1500 max and the neighbour issue - this isn't even going to pay for acoustic treatment let alone isolation - I would love to see the project fly but you have to make the first efforts yourself - and do a reality check once well informed.

I echo Sideshow's comments.
Well sounds like IF you have not signed a lease agreement yet, then don't keep looking. That is of course if the location or price are not a huge concern. IF the answering service is in a different building, then that's good. Cinder block = about 4 layers of drywall. Building in part of a strip mall... the other tenants in same building may be more of a concern then answering service. Drywall is much more cost effective material in sound isolation then brick. Still you'll need a higher budget, and we'll need a lot more info to help you out. Marcneed help designing the main control room for the building I'm about to lease on the corner lot of a strip mall.
Hi,Thanks for keeping it real. I basically came up with the budget on a whelm. I'm still looking at other locations as well. Honestly, after being on the site majority of the night , I'd rather find a spot that would be less of a hassle(something with some rooms already structured instead of a weird shaped open space).
