Hows everyone doing? Ok, here's my situation: I live in Old Bridge, N.J.. I've been producing for like 10yrs. now. I live in a townhouse development. The houses are joined, and the walls are paper thin. I like to play my music loud. That is why I need to move my stuff down to the basement. So I would love any help possible as far as designing is concerned. What's the best route to take, what's the best material to use that gives me great sound proofing, what's the best lighting to use, etc.. Also, if you know someone in my area who can do the job, send me their info. I figured my budget is around 5g. Mainly I want a control room, but if you can find a space to fit a closet size booth thats fine too. I downloaded sketchup. I'm not familiar, but I was able to draw a basic layout of my basement.( with actual measurements) (It's 19'L X11'W X7 1/2H). The basement is concrete all the way around. There is one small window which hangs 17in. from ceiling. The circuit breaker box sticks out 6in. from wall. The lines you see on the back wall represents the water drain pipe (it is 4ft. up from the floor, and sticks out 1ft. from the wall). The circle is where my sub pump is, which I always need acess to. It's in the ground, but there is a 5in. in diameter hole there which i have a board on top.The box next to the steps is where my hot water heater sits, and my boiler. (the hot water heater sticks out 21in. from the wall, and the boiler sticks outs 45in. from the wall. they both take up 6' 9" end to end). The stairs stick out 3ft. from wall as you enter the room. IF YOU NEED MORE INFO JUST ASK ME AND I'LL TRY TO GET RIGHT BACK WITH IT. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

IS THERE SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP ME OUT? ALSO WITH A BETTER SKETCHUP FILE OR SOMETHING?

I WANT TO MOVE MY STUFF TO THE BASEMENT, BUT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE FIRST. SO, I WOULD LOVE ANY HELP POSSIBLE AS FAR AS DESIGNING IS CONCERNED, WHAT'S THE BEST ROUTE TO TAKE, WHAT'S THE BEST MATERIAL TO USE, LIGHTING, ETC.. OR IF YOU KNOW ANYONE IN MY AREA WITH THE SKILLS TO DO THE JOB. I LIVE IN OLD BRIDGE, NJ. I FIGURED MY BUDGET TO BE AROUND 6 GRAND. MAINLY, I WANT A CONTROL ROOM, BUT IF YOU CAN FIT A BOOTH, BY ALL MEANS DO SO. I JUST DOWNLOADED SKETCHUP. I'M NOT FIMILIAR WITH IT, BUT I WAS ABLE TO DRAW A BASE DIAGRAM OF HOW MY BASEMENT IS SET UP.( WITHOUT ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS)BUT I BELIEVE IT'S LIKE 19'L X11'W X7 1/2H. THE BASEMENT IS CONCRETE ALL THE WAY AROUND. THERE IS ONE SMALL WINDOW. THE LINES YOU SEE ON THE BACK WALL IS A WATER DRAIN PIPE. THE CIRCLE IS WHERE THE SUB PUMP IS. THE BOX YOU SEE NEXT TO THE STEPS IS WHERE MY HOT WATER HEATER, AND MY BOILER SIT. ON THE OPPOSITE WALL IS WHERE MY OIL TANK SITS. I DIDN'T DRAW THAT IN THE DIAGRAM THOUGH. I KNOW THIS IS PROBABLY NOT ENOUGH INFO, BUT IF YOU NEED MORE INFO JUST ASK ME AND I'LL TRY TO GET RIGHT BACK WITH IT. THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Aloha and welcome to the forum :D

Also, it would help alot if you would turn off the CAPS LOCK as you post, as it comes across a bit over the top in regard to web etiquette. Thanks!
Hope this helps. Looking forward to your studio build and progress.
Happy reading!

Thanks, and sorry about the caps. I checked them links before. I thought I posted the right way. I'm just tryin to get someone to give me some ideas of a decent layout. Someone who's good with that sktchup. I seen some nice sketchup diagrams, and thats what I want. I don't know nothing about building a studio, thats why I'm asking for the help.

Aloha,
Hey, no worries! :D
Many of the questions you're asking have been covered throughout the forum. A search using keywords may prove very fruitful.
Any chance you could do as accurate measurement of your room as possible, please? Please also include measurements on how much the stairs, water heater, pipes/ducting/floor joists hang down/stick out/take up. The more info you can provide, the better others are able to make suggestions. There are quite a bit of pipes/ducts/objects along the walls & ceilings that present a bit of a challenge for you. Depending on how you end up constructing the framing and finishing out the room, you may find that your actual working space may be quite alot smaller than the perimeter of the room. That said, here are a few pics on rooms that are somewhat close to your measurements that might give you a few ideas. Hope this helps get the ideas going, Aloha 8)Mainly, I want a control room, but if you can fit a booth, by all means do so. I just downloaded SketchUp. Aloha,
Oh yeah, one more thing :D
Any chance you could resize that first pic (Sketchup) down to about 500 pixels wide. This would eliminate having to scroll back and forth(which also discourages people wanting to read, let alone reply, to your thread.)
Thanks!

thank alot. I'll do that now, and repost. Those are the actual measurements though. 19'L x 11'W x 7 1/2H

Aloha,
Here's a nice Sketchup design that John did that fits your floor measurements, but is a little taller in height. Perhaps this might work as a template?

Thanks Kendale. That really is a nice layout that John did.
i wanna see if he or someone can do a sketchup of my actual basement diagram with all of the logistics. I wanna see how they would do it with getting around my water drain pipe hanging from the wall, getting around the sub pump which i always need acess too, getting around my hot water heater and boiler, and the steps.
