Hello,
I have been busy with the monsieur carpenter to isolate the space I mentioned in my first post:
http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... highlight=
The biggest challenge of the construction has been the size of the space, or the lack there of. Just to store all the construction materials has been a feat! Anyhow. Now the isolation structure is very close to being done and it has come time for the next phase: acoustic treatment.
The challenge that I'm facing is very much rooted from the room dimensions. The space is not very big to start with and I'm trying to conserve the space left as much as possible without compromising the sound of the room. And in that my good gentlemen I would dearly need your help!!!
The room illustrated in the .skb file it the inner size of the room. The structure has been omitted to make a clearer picture of the dimensions and help plan the acoustic treatments. The walls and ceiling are double gypsum board and the pipe going in the ceiling belongs to the ventilation system.
Ceiling:
---------------
I have up to 50 centimeters space in the ceiling to be used for bass trapping. I was considering sloped wall so that the frequency response would be maximized. Should I construct the lowered ceiling of hard, soft or perforated material?
I was going for the perforated acoustic gypsum boards with rockwool behind it. Also building the ceiling of acoustic glasswool panels is an option. I'm a little bit lost in what route to take.
Walls:
--------------
Would you recommendtaht I would make the asymmetry more stronger in the front of the listener. Meaning should I benefit for extending the sloped walls up to the listeners position?
I was planning of constructing the side walls with 50 millimeters of rockwool and a perforated gypsum board in top of the absorbion.
Back wall:
--------------
Should I think of having a basstrap also in the back wall behind the listener?
Dimensions and modes:
-----------------
My calculations are pointing that the frequency around 50 hz and little over 100 will give a bit of a hard time. Taking in account the limited space, what would be the most smartest thing in dealing with them.
I will resume the construction next monday, hopefully you kind souls would have time to share your wisdom to a studio noob like me!
Thank you and sorry for the engrish,
APR

Aloha,
Would something like this be suitable?
