-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ive been search the forums for days now and now im even more confused. We are moving our control room to gain more space. The room is odd but its the only thing available at this time. The dimensions are 8ft wide by 20ft long with 8.5ft ceilings.I want to treat the room obviously for the best mix.Ive thought about the foam by mail, even maybe make some diy treatment????My first problem is where and what type of treatment to use.Im not apossed to buying the treatment from a vendor im just worried that it wont do the job.Point me in the right direction please.Alos mixdesk placement is a concern of mine as well.Im thinking put the mixdesk on the short wall to have the space behind???????????? _________________

Yea that design wont work for a good sound out of any of those rooms. Can you ditch the "iso/lounge" for a larger control and live room, and stick a vox booth where it is but bigger?
What?You are kidding right?Explain
We are just moving the control room to a new location. If you notice the new lounge is the old control room and it was even smaller.Ive been to and seen many studio that are even smaller than this. That actually sound better than some of the larger rooms ive been too.Im not a newbie
your problem is not depth - 20 ft is good but 8' wide is very limiting. That's a width of a normal bathroom let alone a control room. waht if you did this? cheers john

Thank you so much.Unfortunatly i cant move the vox booth from this position. Is it possible to have control room layout the way you suggest but keep vox booth where it is in original. Also the live room would be ok with these dimensions and how would i set up drums?I thnk you very much for any info you could offer
Hows this?

why not? - it would be a pain having the vox booth behind you plus it would compromise any rear wall treatment. You could easily set up a drum kit in the middle of the top room. How much construction are you prepared to do?? I'd pull down a few walls as well if it were mine. cheers john
Well the vox booth is simply used more for amp iso/scratch vox tracks.Three of the walls are load holing walls.I can only add walls.Moving the control room to the old live room is a great idea.As long as the new live room with only 8.5 ft ceilings will work.
Old live room to peak ceilings are 12ft
Now that ive really thought it moving the live room ?????its been here long and it sounds great. Please tell me that i could use the new addition 20 by 8 in some configuration???As a control room.I plan on investing a great deal on treatment

well it's a room similar to the control room you have except it's 1 foot narrower. I fail to see what you hope to gain by moving. cheers john
Well im gonna use the layout with the control room in the old live room. Now to get started on minimal treatment in the new live room.It has been treated once and i just need to add some clouds. and rear bass traps.thanks for your help
