Ive been search the forums for days now and now im even more confused. We are moving our control room to gain more space. The room is odd but its the only thing available at this time. The dimensions are 8ft wide by 20ft long with 8.5ft ceilings.I want to treat the room obviously for the best mix.Ive thought about the foam by mail, even maybe make some diy treatment????My first problem is where and what type of treatment to use.Im not apossed to buying the treatment from a vendor im just worried that it wont do the job.Point me in the right direction please.Alos mixdesk placement is a concern of mine as well.Im thinking put the mixdesk on the short wall to have the space behind????????????
Thanks
Welcome to RSD! You are doing the right thing by asking before doing. I have lost count of how many times I have read "I wish I knwe what I learned here before I started buidling. Now I have to tear ita all down and do it start over." Post your query on the studio design section and include answers to the questions in the http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231. Good luck and looking forward to your project! Andre
Hi there, A few quick thoughts to get you started: first, avoid Foam By Mail. The effectiveness of their projects has been pretty much debunked; in addition this company publishes false data about their stuff. Or so I hear anyway. ;-) Regardless, there are more cost-effective solutions than foam anyway. Secondly, A really good place to start is Ethan Winer's Acoustics FAQ. That will answer most/all of your questions at this stage on how to plan your new room.
