Well. you are probably better than me and that's why I'm here ;-) Hello all! This is my first post, but I've been reading this forum for quite some time now. Reading your posts has been very helpful, but I'm not sure how to approach the room I am about to build. Because of the shape it is hard to give exact dimensions, but the dimensions noted in the drawing is pretty accurate. I'm still in the planning process, so I'll gladly hear all your thoughts regarding the project. I’m located in Norway and my budget is approx. 5000$ Height on the left side of the yellow line is 2950mm and 3350mm on the right side. Walls marked with red are made of thin wood, the rest is concrete. Both floor and ceiling is concrete. No windows. The door to the control room must be placed in a "red" area. The room is below ground in a building consisting of 2 live venues, a restaurant and a night club. My main concern regarding proper sound proofing is the restaurant situated 25 m up the hall at the left side on the drawing. Another concern is of course the two live venues, but the most active is located in the opposite part of the building. I need a control room and a recording room. I'm mostly recording metal and rock, but not the whole band at once. My recording room must be suited for drums, guitar/bass and vocals. Drums are of course the main issue here because of the size of my room, but hopefully I'll end up with something usable ;) So the question is how can I make the most out of my available space? The control room is my top priority, but I would also like the recording room to be as good as possible. Thanks! Frode

Thanks John! Great idea! Did you make that in SketchUp? Is it possible to upload the file? Frode
No - I did it in smartdraw. here's a jpg of it that you can import into sketchup. Use the tapemeasure to measure a know length, then type in the real value in the vcr bottom right - it will ask if you want to resize, say yes and the plan will then be to scale. cheers john
