Anyone have a strong opinion on which clip works better? I've heard more people refer to the RSIC. After looking at both of them, it just seems like the SSP should work better. I plan to use these for ceiling application. I can't use the WIC isolators because I'm trying to support hat channel on a vaulted ceiling. When using the iso clips, does is make much difference whether you use the a hat channel that is 25GA or 22GA? I'm inclined to use the heavier one to support up to three layers of drywall. I figured once the channel is isolated, it shouln't make too much difference. Opinions? Creatch
Could you post a link/URL to each product's specs?
SSP iso clips = Weight capacity - 50 lbs. per clip maximum. RSIC-1 clips = Maximum Acoustical Design Load: 36 lbs. So the SSP can carry 14 lb. (a 39% increase) more load than the RSIC-1, which makes sense on the face of it seeing as the RSIC -1 clip is attached using one fastner perfrraming memeber - and the SSP uses 2. As far as Isolation goes - reported acoustic results: Wood Stud partition. 2 x 4, 16” O.C. with 5/8” gypsum board, two layers each side. R19 fiberglass in cavity. SSP clips and 7/8” furring channel. STC-64 Wood Stud partition. 2 x 4, 16” O.C. with 5/8” gypsum board, two layers each side. R19 fiberglass in cavity. RSIC-1 clips and 7/8” furring channel. STC-62. OK - what does it all mean......... All things being equal - they are essentially the same from a performance point of view (i.e.: 2 STC is so slight an increase that it isn't worth worry about). This coupled with the fact that the performance boost is certainly higher than our real "problem" frequencies - would suggest to me to purchase what ever one could get the best buy on. Sincerely, Rod
