hi guys, first time post here, read the rules hope im not contravening any rules with this one here goes! ok, im in the uk and im looking to place my studio in a nice clean enviroment whilst staying central in the city and not breaking the bank. I have found a place which ticks quite a few boxes: it has two adequet sized rooms, a kitchen and bathroom, its clean and central and has decent price negotiation potential... the downsides are thus: one wall of the live room joins onto another property, my friend lives in the property and has no issues with some noise but when hitting a snare we could hear it through the wall in their bathroom... below the live room is the store room of a shop, the couple who run it aren't going to like too much noise. chances are drum sessions will be done approx 3 times a week for about 4 -6 hours a time between 11am-5pm the rest of the noise will be ok, not too anti-social.. so what i want some help on is wether or not decent wall and floor insulation is availble / insulation methods practical to stop too much travel from drums to the shop below and the bathroom next door? my budget isnt great maybe £1000 ($2000) so whats feasable if anything? thanks in advance! Neps ceiling height is app. 3m

That's a tough question. I can see why you like it - two good sized rooms for a cool little studio with kitchen and bathroom. You could soundproof it enough but it'd mean a floated floor and room within room construction - i.e. probably beyond your budget. How much of the construction can you do yourself? labour is a big cost factor. BTW - which room did you have in mind for the live room?? If it was the smaller room you could probably float that within your budget and keep your control room levels cool without bothering to float it. cheers john
