Hello all, I just discovered this site and i have to say it is very incredible resource. Anyway im an engineer in chicago and a partner of a studio and now i am going to be working out of an additional studio that i have been asked to give some input on. I've seen some of the designs in this forum and they are quite impressive. This new space is going to incoporate a performance space as well but the studio and performances will not occur at the same time. In this layout you can see the studio in the top left hand corner. I have 2 questions. The first is we are a single story facility on a concrete slab. What is the most cost effective solution for elimanating or reducing noise transmission through the floor. The second is what is the best layout within this space as none of the walls have gone up yet. The only thing that can't be moved is the geothermal heat pump room, I know this sucks. They can't move this but they have assured me they are very quiet and I've also convinced them to seal up the double doors into what is labeled the "music studio". The studio area in this layout is 19'x22' and the heat pump room takes up 3'x10'. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance.

Welcome; first thing you need to do is edit your drawing (maybe slide the captions over, get rid of all that white space) and get it under 750 pixels wide - see this, in case you missed a few points (particularly the one about drawing size :=) http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231 Thanks... Sorry. How is this?
