My recently built control room is in dire need of sound-treatment help. Unfortunately, my design options were extremely limited, hence the less-than-ideal geometry. Mixing is terrible in the room as it is. Here's what I have now for my control room: Control room is 7'10" x 12' x 7 1/2' high Front wall has a 4X8 sheet of O.C. 703 on it, rear wall is plasterboard over brick. Right wall has a 2x3 window into the tracking room, left wall has a 3x2 window into the control booth. I have about 17 squares (2' x 2' x 2 1/2") of Tectum, and I'm thinking of doing this to the rear wall: Is this a bad idea? Should I do something different to make better use of the Tectum squares?
Is this a bad idea?
in a word - yes. If you read up on the tectum specs it really only works in the C20 or C40 mounting systems where it is placed over 2 1/2" insulation. You'd be better off just using the insulation IMO. I'd suggest using insulation like the attched pic Cheers john

john, is this picture top or side view?
yes - sorry mate I should have shown it - it an angled wall floor to ceiling so you get extra depth at the top without losing floor space at the bottom. cheers john
Thanks, John. I'll do just that. Do I need make sure it's built at a particular angle?
the deeper at the top the better - it's a tradeoff for standing room isn't it. cheers john
