Hi all First thanx John for this great forum. i'm reading and learning here every day for quite a while now! What I do: I record and mix as a hobby, some local (hopefully) upcoming bands and not at least my own band. the studio room is btw. also our rehearsal room... sound: pop/rock Where I do it: in a 50 square meter room in a basement of a shopping mall. the room is divided by a wall built 4 years ago, when i had no plan at all about acoustics... Project Goal: I'd like to build a proper CR within my existing space without ripping out the existing wall, window and door (if not 100% necessary). Final target is to have a good sounding CR of course. Side effect could be a little booth in the entrance area... Budget: As less as possible, as much as it needs to get a proper CR :-) Room Dimensions and materials: outline: 10.0m x 4.80m x 2.40m dividing wall at 6.15m walls around all concrete floor concrete with a carpet on it ceiling concrete Questions: 1. Is it possible to build an proper CR without ripping out the existing wall? 2. Do I have enough bass traps with my design below? 3. What should I do with the low ceiling? 4. What do you think in general about my first design idea below? 5. Everybody is invited to draw a CR for me :-) 6. Does anyone have experience with soffit mounting Event Project Studio 8 Active Monitors (PS8 not ASP8)? Here's what i have in mind. The upper image is like it looks now, the lower my first idea how to implement the CR thanx in advance roman

Hi Roman. The CR looks good. Remember its not just vertical corners you can use bass traps, you could use them between wall and ceiling on the sides. Also, are you planning on treating the LR/ studio? Lots of parallel walls :( oZ
Hi oZ, thanx for commenting. yes, the live room could be the next project. i know all these parallel walls suck... Unfortunately, I didn't knew it better when i built the dividing wall a few years ago... I could use some portable walls when recording as i have some material left. So my first big goal is definitively the CR! Cheerz Roman
Yeah - I agree with Oz - that CR looks fine. It's really not a huge job to shift a door, or widen a window to include a slider. cheers john
thanx John, I'll try to draw a proper 3d plan in sketchup now, i'll post it then so everyone who like can comment it... btw. a few questions from the first post remain: 1. What should I do with the low ceiling? 2. Does anyone have experience with soffit mounting Event Project Studio 8 Active Monitors (PS8 not ASP8)? greez Roman
