Hello acoustic family, my name is Rob. First I would like to say Thank you Mr.John Sayers and team for creating a sanctuary where under budget engineer, producer and musician like myself can gain valuable information
and help for free.....
I'm in the planning stage of my first studio and is badly in need of a proper design that will work in my small space..
My goals, having the ability to do a proper mix, record vocal and overbuds when needed, my production style consisted of Hip Hop, R&B, Dancehall and a bit of sound designing..
I use a lot of midi in my production so there is a colection of synth both rack mount and keyboard style, also there is a few outboard gears that is usesd for signal processing...
For monitoring Event Precision 8 as main monitoring and Tannoy PBM 6.5II with a powered subwoofer for nearfield monitoring
Location, in the basement of a newly construct house in Windsor Connecticut, my closest neighbor is 60 ft away on the northeast side of the property. Above the studio is the family room and above the vocal booth is the kitchen, the family room is sunken so that explain the lower ceiling of the studio. Both the family room and kitchen has wood floor installed on top of plywood.
Room Detail is as follow:
Ceiling - Expose joist 14.5" apart, lined with insulatiion
Floor - Unfinished Slab
Studio - 14' x 14' 9.5" x 6' 11.5" (L x W X H)
Booth - 8' x 6' 6.5" x 7' 6.5" ( L x W x H)
In the studio space, there is a pair of unfinished wall which is made of poured concrete. These walls are apart of the house foundation, the other two wall are not in place as of yet but would seperate the utility roon on one side and the vocal booth on the other side.
The space also has a HVAC duct that runs the entire length of the room, it is 12" square and is 18" away from the back wall of the studio.
Budget, $4,500.00 - $6,000.00 spent on material and supply.
The framing and walls will be done by us..
Thanks again for your time !!
Rob.
