Hi All
Just to start Thanks John and all the posters for such a great site, I would like to ask for some opinions on a layout that I did for my new studio. I have read the faqs for this site and will try to conform to the rules, if I don't get the questions that I ask or the info that I give right please say so and I will revise them. I am a Newbie as a member but have been reading the forms for severals months now. To start I have some layouts that I have done in visio and sketchup but because of the size of the studio. I have tryed to keep the gif down 700*700 but the dimensions are hard to read. I will post the gifs to see if they are ok If not I will work on them so you can see dimensions. The studio is located downtown montreal,Canada. the floor plan is 3300 Sqft. the studio will be in a 1600 sqft area. The room is a commercial loft, the floors are concrete aprox 2ft thick and the ceiling is the same as well as the outer walls. the iso to the neighbors is 5/8 gypse and r12 insulation on 2x4 steel studs, I am not to concered about the neighbors as this is commercial building and I have placed the control rooms in a way that the live room is 20 ft from their walls, I do not mix or track at High volumes. The ceilings are 13 ft high and there is 20" ciment pilars as their support, they are identified as the octagon shapes on the plan. the over all width and length are as follows the total floor space is 60Ft x 60ft the studio will have a L shape that is 41' x 41' x 27' x 11' x 20' x 30'. control room A will have a sl4048 or sl6056 ( I have not yet been able to get the dims of the boards but there will be enough room in the Croom for either board) Control room B will have a Euphonix CS2000 56 in. there will be a machine room with one slim line hvac for that room all the noisey equipment for both studios will be in this room including a 24 trk otari mtr90 and a 16 trk tascam ms16, also the computers for the 2 Daws and all syncs and video decks. I have tried to add at least 1 vocal both per room but this is where my problem is because of the pliars, I am trying to work around them and they are a pain. the budget for the studio construction is 40k to 50k cnd. I have looked into hiring a design firm to do the layout but I will leave that as my last option (there is not a lot of them here in montreal) I have contacted Fm designs and steve klien design but thought that I would try the layout myself before. I have lots of experience in construction of studios and have built 6 in the past. As for the construction material I will be using and doing .. the floors will be made with 2x6 studs floated on rubber pads with two layers of 5/8 ply or thicker the walls will be attached to floors with iso pads and 2x4 steel studs ( I have no choice to use steel as per the building codes) rockwool will be used for sound bats and 2 layers of 5/8 gypse per side but this could all change depending on the plans of the rooms ei I might need more or less of the materials. Also I will use 703 and cloth for the acoustics Instead of buying foam (auralex, sonex ect..) So here goes I have tryed different layouts and have looked at all the different layouts here and at other sites and have not found anything that fits my space most are to small. I have used the control room layout that Auralex has on their site called 101 acoustics room and I have kept it to scale for the ssl room and resized it for the cs2000 room. Any ideas would be appreciated, maybe you will see somthing that I haven't. Also the CS room will be setup for 5.1 surround.
