Hi all .. I've been hanging around this forum and the recording.org forum for sometime now .. all my knowledge and catalyst for getting my humble little room in order comes from here .. So i wanted to share where i'm at but also ask a few questions .. I'm based in Berlin . i rent a small office / workshop space . I can't really do anything permanent so this is what i've done thus far. Most of it involves tacking 703 type fiberglass panels w/ airgap. The stuff i use is from Isover Germany , it's got a backing , similar to speaker cabinet material , the panels are apx. 60 cm W x 125cm L .. I've used 2 types .. ones that are about 2.5 cm thick (i doubled up) and ones that are about 5cm thick. I'll ask questions later but i have a concern about there being backing on both panels on the ones doubled up. Here is the exact name of what i'm using : Isover Akustic SSP2 . here is a link to the data sheet http://www.isover.de/ResourceImage.aspx?raid=196 First off here's a basic plan of my room .. The room is : W - 135 Inches (3.43 meters) = 343 cm = 3430 mm L - 174 inches ( 4.42 meters) = 442 cm = 4420 mm with the ceiling sloping from 125 inches (3.18 meters) at the front wall to 145 inches (3.68 meters) at the rear. (this is good right ?) my treatment so far incudes , a carpet which is so thin it does nothing significant & my panels .. I've included a layout of my studio , the burgundy lines are where i've added my panels . I've done a floor to ceiling treatment in the corners laying the panels length wise for a maximum airgap at the front of my room . I've mixed a few of them up to allow the scrim to face outwards as to not kill all highs in the room . I've also treated both side walls in identical fasion , the 3 sets of panels closest to my seating position are all mminiral wool facing outwards to tame any first reflections .. As for my rear wall i've been experimenting for a few days now and have not put anything up permently . So this is my big question : Suggestions for the rear wall & corners & ceiling ? First about the sound of my room. My room sounds Ok so far .. it's got a fairly even sound while walking around with no really huge noticable cancellations. There's bass build up in corners and down low but nothing insane like my old room. I'm confused a little about resonance in the room especially coming from the ceiling . I'm havign a hard time determining if it's just a bit of resonance from the walls being untreated or if i need more trapping .. . The ceiling is quite high. My sweet spot is quite tight in th low end although it can be tighter but overall it is very small spot , there is a noticble bump between 100 Hz-250 Hz. With a very rough sine test with a db meter there is a dip from 100 Hz to 80 Hz of about 8 db. This is of course something i would like to try and fix). Also with a rough sine i feel there is a bit of flutter echo / comb filtering / something going on from about 2.5Khz ..With just listening it feels there is a drastic chenge between freq. But on rough measurement it's not so bad . Now : i've got about 2 more packs of 10 panels (20 panels) of 5cm thickness) . i've wrapped about 10 and have been moving them around the back area testing a bit . Of course i can eventually buy more but for now i would like to maximixe the use of what i have .. I will cover the other 10 this weekend .. So my questions : (you might want to look at my pictures too) With the panels i have left , where should i focus my efforts ? I would like to tame a bit more of the flutter echo and attempt to flatten a few of the bumps and generally just do the right thing ! The otions i guess being : Panels on rear wall with airgap , another corner treatment in the right rear corner .. or * gasp * the ceiling this of course is a bit more work but i suspect is source of some problems but again : Should i be looking at a cloud design or should i focus on the celing corner that meets the rear wall ? If you look at my diagram, you will notice i cannot make the back wall symetrical because of the door . How important is it to have the rear wall treated symetrically ? Would treating the corner throw my imaging off ? Finally : Suggestions on monitor placement and seating ? perhaps i can fix some problems like this ? i also have my monitors on stands and would like to know what the best height would be .. I've read and searched a lot on this forum but now i'm chasing my own tail .. well i've tried to go into as much detail as possible .. I hope someone might find this interesting or at least even funny ;-) .. it's all been gut instinct , this forum and couple of calculations so far ..So if anyone could offer some direction i would be very grateful. Also feel free to PM if you need help finding acoutstic materials in Berlin .. i can also post more pics but i keep losing the comments to the ones i've already posted .. well i think that's as much detail as i can go into now .. over and out Jeremy

So i'm going to coverr the remainder of my panels .. i wondering if anyone has any advice yet for the back wall / ceiling of my room ? I'm wondering if i went into too much detail or not enough ? by the way , my studio is under construction hence why it looks liek a crack den with the light on .. ;-0 Again what i'm searching for is simply advice if i should be looking at treating the rear wall, the corner of the rear wall to ceiling or attempt another corner treatment with the panels strapped across for the rear corner .. basically i'm just trying to figure out at this stage what would make the most sense .. alos those big rolls of fiberglasss in the pictures are left over from my old room , i'd like ot get rid of them but they seem to be helping abit since my rear wall is basically untreated as of yet .. thanks , Jeremy
