hi i want to build a control room and a vocal room. i have a space for a garage which is approx 20 feet square and will be 8 to 10 feet high. my first problem is there is a 4 train tracks approx 30-40 feet away. i wanted to build a 8 " block wall exterior shell with a door no windows on 2 feet wide by 3 feet deep concrete footings. and then build a room inside with a floated concrete slab floor perhaps on springs with stud walls also floated. do you think this would isiolate the train so as i can record?

If you've got trains 30'-40' feet away, I think you're pretty much screwed without spending A LOT of money. Even then, I'm not sure you could eliminate the noise.
Perhaps you're time and money would be better spent on an accurate train schedule and work your recording around that. At least in your part of the world, the trains run on time. :-)

arh the great news ive been waiting for. the only good thing is i dont have to pay for labour so its only the materials. anyone got a ruff idea on cost of isolation materials for this project?. i sort of have to make it happen because property here is well over priced. thanks
