i would like to possiblly hang my mic stand from the ceiling or from the wall. do they sell these type of stands or is this something ill have to make myself? if anyone has some pics, that would be great. thanx for any help.....
My first question would by "why?" Do you not have enough room for a regular mic stand? As a possible solution, you might look into the wall mounts they use for TVs. They usually have a pole or something sticking up that you could mount the mic to. len
It is very very easy to find microphone mounting flanges that you would attach to a desk or something similar. This would work fine. a boom arm or gooseneck will screw right on. Might work for drum overheads in a small room, dead ceiling, with shock-mounted mics...
John, I have one of those that's commercially made by Luxo - looks just like the lamps but has a 5/8 mic thread instead of the lamp. I stopped using it onstage (very handy when you're playing keys part of the time and guitar/bass other times) - the reason I stopped using it is because the combination of the hollow square tubes and those springs caused excess feedback at around 6.3 k - when I changed to a more normal mic stand, I stopped having to pull the 6.3k slider all the way down on the graphic for our monitor system  I may break it out again when I'm setting up my new video editing room tho, no monitors on to feed back and it sure is handy 8) Steve Maybe I should fill the frames with sand next time
wow - I've never heard of that effect - well until now :D
