From the Top....
We'll I've settled on a plan for my studio. I was in a bit of a jam and needed to come up with something quick.... as always, I'm sure this will come around and bite me latter some how.
After searching through the various plans, I decided to use one that best fit (for my needs) my space. Basically, I used the controll room and applied it to the available space. Below I'v attached a copy of the plan I used. I had to modify it some since my room demensions were close but not right on. I actually have an area of about 88 square feet at the back of my live room to work with as well as the space in from of my controll room.. You can see this in the attachment of my total space allocated for the studio. I will post pictures of the construction as time permits.
Any ideas as to the pit falls of this design and improvements available would be greatly appreciated. Please note that none of the other specs changed (ie, hieght, width, lenght).
Please see my floor drawing for suggestions of how to reduce noice from and to above.
Thanks

I may have posted in the wrong area so here it goes again. Sorry if I cause any inconvenience.
This is my first post to the site, eventhough I've been reading and looking at many of the posts. I'm about to start construction of my first studio and need some assistance with designing a control room. Below I've listed some of the characteristics of the bare shell.
The studio is part of my new home construction and is located in the basement. Currently, I have studed the walls with 2x4 which are about 1" away from the block concrete exterior walls. The 2x4 walls have tyvek on the back side(between the blocks and the studed wall) on all walls except one. This wall is contructed of 2x6 on a 6" block and is load bearing wall. I've attached a basic layout of the room available with as much info as I currently have.
The ceiling construction is made up of 3/4" hardwood flooring, felt paper, 3/4"plywood subfloor (glued and screwed to joists) and 14" joists. The studio will be located under my bedroom so I would like to keep the sound down to a minimum. The floor is a basic cement floor. The overall room demensions are on the pdf file that I've attached. As for height, I have 8'4" before finishing.
Some of the other details are as follows. For room construction have budgeted approx $7,500. I am building the studio for myself and my sons who are both musicians. My oldest is "pro" and has been writing and arranging for a producer in LA. I'm expecting loud recording volumes so I do need to consider the noise levels for both inside and outside the house. The basement walls are constructed of 12" block and my floor joists are 14". This might help in reduce the noise. As for room positioning I think that the controll room would be best suited closer to the door side of the room since directly above is a bedroom. (any suggestions)
My framer would like to finish the house asap so I find myself in a bit of a jam to get the design finalized. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In as much of the studio I guess I would like to split the space up approx. 50/50. (or whatever would work best.) eventhough I think my focus should be on the controll room.
Best regards.
