1st off im not sure if this should be here or in the studio construction section. Im sorry if i got it wrong. Im looking to build a booth for doing VOs however my major problem is that since im renting my appartment im not alowed to build anything permanant. Im not even alowed to drill or nail anything into the walls. This is what i have to work with. Im thinking of placing the booth in the corner where the bookcase is. http://home.caribsurf.com/elfpro/email/office.jpg http://home.caribsurf.com/elfpro/email/living.jpg this is a quick 3d sketch of what i had in mind for the frame. http://www.elfpro3d.com/Turtles/booth.jpg im not totally sure on the size of the entire room but the important dimensions in that corner are that its 8'3" to the roof and the window is a 4'x4' window 4'2" away from the wall. The walls in that corner are solid 6" concrete walls. The roof is an 8" solid concrete slab as well and i cant hear the landlord or his kids upstairs. Budget is a concern on this and i guess my main question is if it is possible to build something like im describing where the two constructed booth walls could just be rested on the existing walls. I also wanted to make the walls so that i can detach them into two panels seeing as how moving them in and out of the appartment is tricky with the stupid chandileres my land lord has in there. Ive read the Acoustics 101 practical guidlines pdf from Auralex as well as reading the forum but didnt see anything like this except hearing suggestions to use blankets and i dont want my booth to be THAT temperary
can someone tell me if this stuff will be decent for an iso booth. A friend of mine works for a company that fabricates this stuff. He informs me due to the steel structure a 3" wall of this stuff stands on its own and is sound resistant as well as lighter than a concrete wall (27pounds for a 4x8 panel) http://www.tiahco.com/impacsystem.htm
