i try to change my controlroom with some acustic work that i fortunately found here. thanks to all for this woderfull forum...
the room is a litle tricky, the second door on the side i want to close. on the front i a large window with a second small window right and a door to the balcony on the left. i rarely use it so i take the compromise that it is a litle bit blocked when i put the mixer on the front wall.
my concept for the front corners is a movable basstrap that i can put in position when mixing...
my questions:
- will cornertraps work without having contact to the walls
- are there to much drawbacks with a window in the front
- should i build a cornertrap on the front (window) floor edge
- or should i rotate my setup 90 degrees ccw (longwall as front)
the cealing treatment is not in this pictures (clowd, cealing-wall traps)
thank you
will this corner-absorber work?

Yes - provided you have a solid back on the panels with insulation on the front.
cheers

thank you john...
i didnt expect that the back should be solid. do you think the back should be heavy like 19mm mdf or better thinner like 5 mm so that it moves like a membrane?
best, shangoe
The solid 19mm MDF and I'd line the back of it and the cavity with insulation also.
cheers
john
is this the concept you are thinking about? lets say this could be 4-6 inch thick...
... i still dont get why the back should be closed, always thought the absorbtion would be most when the sound go thru it hit the backwall and back. could you comment this a litle more or show me in which thread i can read more about this?
thank you!
