when you have correct scale I'll consider it - until then I'm not going to draw it up only to have you say - Oh there's a door there and that wall is 3m longer - done it too many times now mate to be sucked in again. cheers johnDRAWING IS TOO SCALE (WELL VERY CLOSE ANYWAYS)
Hi John, Thanks for the reply. Understood, sorry my post was misleading as it is to scale, I ment my mock ups of the inside where probably not, they are just ideas The building is empty and the shell is to scale... The only think thats fixed is the WC area in the corner which is 3.2 on the longest wall x 3.1 on the shorter wall. As long as it has 2 control rooms and 1 good size live area thats all we need, not fans of vocal booths/iso Ceiling is 4.3 meters also Thanks again John, I can see what you mean and dont worry Im not a nightmare forum user ;) Best Jwhen you have correct scale I'll consider it - until then I'm not going to draw it up only to have you say - Oh there's a door there and that wall is 3m longer - done it too many times now mate to be sucked in again. cheers johnDRAWING IS TOO SCALE (WELL VERY CLOSE ANYWAYS)
And yea the only door is the double door where it says entrance, the WC door can be anywhere we want
cool - that's better.
cheers
john
No problem, another idea is... To increase the width of the control rooms I was thinking of each one being able to access the live room direct via double glass doors so then we dont have to use the space for a hallway.... As I would like the control rooms to be as wide as possiblecool - that's better. cheers john
Im going to put up some pictures too today :)
I found that two control rooms side by side are too narrow even without the passage.
here's a couple of alternatives
cheers
john
Outstanding John, this definately throws a new light on the subject!
Im gonna have to have a rethink!
Photos on the way
Cheers

wow, I really like the layout on the 2nd pic :)
Hey John, roughly what size live room does that leave me with?
Currently my control room is 11ft wide x 14 long and its a great size for us, I could get 2 of these side by side surely?
J :)
J - if you put each control room together you get the attached pic - but you still need access for loading kick drums etc in.
Either of my layouts allow easy access for gear and people. The one with the booths would allow both studios to record at the same time, i.e. Studio A recording in the studio, Studio B recording it's booth. It also allows Studio A or B to record alone with the studio but with TWO booths.
cheers
john
That will be ok John as we only work on our own music so we can set it up like this to maximise the space for the live room as we will be running our band rehearsals in there and I dont mind people coming thru the control rooms to get to the live room as it wont be frequent and I know them.J - if you put each control room together you get the attached pic - but you still need access for loading kick drums etc in. Saying that tho I really live the designs both of them, but we will definately save money on construction if we have them next to each other, If we had a 1ft gap between the rooms that should be enough you think?
Soryr I will get these pictures up, I havent had a chance to get there
Updates,
Building is nearly ready to go, the landlords builders are just about finishing up.
Question:
Like I said I dont have to go too crazy with soundproofing and I dont want to put up stud walling as I think it sounds terrible, I prefer brick build rooms, so Im just thinking to use a dense breezeblock and leave a 6" gap between walls, what do you think?
Cheers
J
I see that in your initial post that you're in London... But it would be great if you updated your profile to show that so that we don't have to dig back to figure that out. 8)
