Good day, I've been reading up on here for a while. I am finally ready to begin the process of planning and building my studio.
I would like to have two rooms (control & tracking room.) I have neighbors close on one side. The music will range from jazz to rock so controlling noise is important.
I plan on sealing off the garage door and windows permanently so that you can only enter through the side door. I am attaching a sketchup that I started and a pic. I'm totally amature when it comes to the Sketchup program, but I figured I would go ahead and throw it out there. The dimensions are accurate.
I'm trying to maintain a $4k construction budget...hopefully. Advice, tips, hints? Please let me know if I'm leaving anything out.

Here is an example of the floor plan for my design. Please let me know what you think. I know its simple and I am open to any suggestions.
you might want to add a second window in on the inside of each window to allow natural light in, and maybe a load-in (double width?) door where the main garage door was/is - i.e. make the "outside" (top) room the studio and the "inside" (bottom) room the control room. this would also provide a second escape route in case of fire. I'm guessing it all depends on the amount of isolation you need...
also consider how you will ventilate heat/cool/fresh air.
Unfortunately I need all the isoalation I can get. The side where the garage is and the wall opposite the windows have neighbors within about 50-60 feet. I like the suggestion of bringing in some natural light.
