Hello everyone im Sean. I live in Atlanta Ga USA....Im a new born when it come to this studio thing... I have been on this site reading the information and there is so much stuff here it is wonderful. I just purchased my first house and before I buy groceries I wanna get this studio built :D. Ive been producing for about 2 yrs and finally have the space to do it some what professionally. Here are some of the specs that i am working with. I hope this information is enough... The size of the studio is
W= 8 1/2ft, L=13ft, H=7 1/2ft.
Atlanta Ga USA (in the blue print proccess of the studio)
My budget is $1,300(usd) on supplies, ie: wood, glass, doors, insulation, paint, sheet rock, carpet. I cant go over 1,600 though. so $1,300 - $1,600
(contractor will build it for me at $1,500 usd)
Finished Basement
Concrete Floors
Sheet rock Walls
Middle Town home (sepereated by concrete on both sides)
No Hvac
Outlets can be moved around
In terms of db's im not sure (forgive me) I do not want to disturb the neighbors but i would like to be able to work during the night.
Bascally im looking for some help on acoustic's and I have other questions. Ive been reading the forum found various answers but nothing specfic that would clarify my thoughts. So i guess if any body can help me please do If you need more spec's i will try to get them as fast as i can.
thanks

Hello,
I am currently building a basement studio in Atlanta for a client about the same size as your drawing and my 2x4's and sheet rock alone cost more than $1500. Im not trying to be down about your situation. i run into a lot of folks with a small budget. It's just that you might consider treating the room acoustically with that money instead of trying to build a full on studio. i know that is not what you want to hear, it's just really really a small budget.
Yes a reg. contractor can build a couple sheetrock walls and put some lights and doors in for that budget but its not a studio. It wont be soundproof or really even stop much sound at all.
i try to suggest to my clients that call with that small of a budget to build removable acoustic treatments for now and save money. That way you can still work in the space while trying to save the cash to build a proper studio. If you build now, not building correctly, you will have to tear it all out to rebuild a proper studio later. Or just treat the room in a way that once you build the new room you can take the treatment with you.
Sorry for the downer, I know its not what you wanted to hear, but its realistic. There is some great advise here about treatment options. Good luck and remember it's just my 2 cents.
