What is the equivalent for a poor French guy like me ? Most translation failed to help, so maybe an image of the product could do ?! Also, I have a wall to do AND a suspended ceiling, I will use steel frame for both of them. 1) I can't find a proper explanation for resilient channel (Canal resilient in French which does not help either) Maybe explaining me the role of it would. 2) I will go for wall first, ceilling second. Should I caulk the above of the wall since the ceiling will come against it or can I just leave it open ? Here is a drawing that may explain my question a little better:

Thanks
I've been searching for RC (resilient channel) myself, in the Netherlands which is close to France :), and only came up with the RC8 from Auralex. I reckon' they ship internationally, also in France. Might wanna check the RPG group in England maybe, but Auralex might be the way to go. Dunno dealers in France, but you can check their website for that I think. There's better explanation on the wall/ceiling construction here, so I won't bother. Search the forum and read them stickies. check this: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=28924 and this: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=20003
This page: http://www.ta-inc.com/newshtml/rc.htm has a decent explantion and pics for resilient channel. Look at the pic on the page, the thing to be careful about: What we call "hat channel" is no good, it has no holes and provides no sound isolation benifet. Resilient channel has holes in it, and does not attach the same way to the frame material, giving it sound isolation benifit of decoupling. Hope this helps. Someone else may be able to give a better discription than I. Marc
Thanks for the RC info, I don't think I will ever use it anyhow. As for the links you gave me ro, yes of course I read them all, more than twice and I even printed them, but look at my drawing that particular case is not mentionned. My guess is that I don't need to caulk at the top of the wall since it will be in between my 2 leaf ceiling after having done the ceiling, but to to be completely sure, I asked the question. Thanks anyway for your big help so far. And you right, I contacted Auralex France, their "stopgap" is tremendously expensive. Alex
Hai, alexidoia. Those links are to show you how you'd better attach wall and ceiling sheets (crossed). It can apply to your situation too I think Don't know if you understand any Dutch (prolly not eh), but I found this one as an alt for the stopgap: http://www.bouwproducten.nl/product/asp ... index.html
   Damnit Ro, you have a nervous avatar .......
haha, yeah I noticed my self. I'll go fish and see what comes up  [edit] hope this one's less nervous, updated picture. . .(yeah, yeah, it's me pluggin' the mighty 4 string)
Alex, you still needing help on this one? Steve
