Hi all, Well I've been reading here for a little while not and decided I need to start asking some questions. Next summer I'm going to be building a new studio from the ground up. I've been trying to research as much as I can, but there's alot to take in, so be nice if some of my questions or decisions seem stupid or obvious. Right now I'm planning on having about 1800 sq. ft. of space. A live room, control room, 2 iso rooms, entrance area, and a lounge. For a foundation I'm planning on seperate slabs for each room and exterior walls will be 12" poured concrete walls. Interior walls will be regular stud contstruction with 2 layers of drywall. I've come up with a drawing (sorry about the quality) of what I'm kind of looking for. I just went off what little knowledge I have when I came up with these. The room sizes are pretty close to what I'm looking for, but everything else is up in the air. I just looking to find out if these are at least plans that I can use as a starting point and what people think needs to be changed. I tried to put as much info as I could think of in the drawings. One is a overhead floorplan and the second is a sideview for ceiling heights. Budget is roughly $275K for the building and $225K for gear. Gear I've pretty much got figured out, but is it possible to build this building for $275K. A buddies construction company will be doing most of the work and I'll be doing wiring and accoustic treatment stuff. Any help/comments/suggestions/questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jordan

Sorry, I forgot to mention that this isn't going to be a commercial studio. Really just a place for me and friends to have some fun. So the only real concerns are what I feel is needed. It'll be located about 20 yards from a house being built at the same time. Not too many neighbors around, but it'd be nice to have it somewhat quiet outside, just in case.
Your ideas are very nice. Now lets get it properly blueprinted and scaled so we can see angles, etc....
