Hello
assuming that the floated floor is seperated between the rooms (CR and recording) by a raised piece of rockwool, but on top of that there is still some surfacing concrete plus the laminate and the stuff that goes underneath it that will go on top later. Should these not be separeted as well? If yes what is the best way of doing it?
Thank you
seperating laminate floor

yes, it should.
Does the floor (concrete, underlayment and laminate) continue underneath your separating wall? That's not good, you get flanking all over.
Best way is to just cut the floors on both sides of the wall. Not only seperating them from each other but also from the wall. There are different tools for that, I know of special floor sawwing machines where you can cut close to walls.
But that still needs your concrete to be cut, it'll take some more heavy instruments for that job!
Hi Ro
I was suspecting that something like that would need to be done. Any ideas on what I could fill the gap with if it should be filled in the first place? Also how wide tha gap should be?
Thanks
leave a 1/4" (about 5 or 6mm) gap, thaz enough. you might want to seal it with sealant (kit). Just make sure your laminated floor won't touch the wall. Hell, you might even wanna keep that concrete floor as it is. Might not be worth the trouble, depends on your current construction. The (green?) underfloor must be cut to and will help you stop most flanking (that's what it's for amongst others)
i just submitted a plan with picture on this topic in my own thread, might check that to see what I mean.
