Hi, been lurking here for a while and finally decided to ask some questions. We are based in SLC Utah, USA. We started out with a huge rehearsal space and converted it to do some live shows. We then started recording the live shows multitrack to computer but the environment to mix in is horrible. I will attach a picture. We would like to build a mixing room but are limited in where we can build it. We need to be able to continue the live shows so the new room will have to go in the loft. Which means very low ceilings. Our budget is 3-4000$ and we are total newbs. Neighbors are not an issue and the building walls are very thick, outside noise so far has not been an issue. Ideally we would like a good sounding space to work in. the available space for the proposed room is 14'long, 8'9"wide, 6'6"high (marked in blue on the image below). any sugestions would be great. We have no idea where to start or even if the idea is workable. Thanks, Thane & Jason

hmmm, No takers? I thought I followed the rules. Well, I have still been able to gleen a load of useful info from this site. For which I am eternally grateful! I don't think we would be attempting this without such great resources like this. We will be starting in early september. I will try to keep you posted. Any suggestions or ideas would be great. Thanks, Thane
Your pricing is reasonable for a small control room that will yield good mixes based on the current materials prices. that 12'10" x 15' area can certainly be used for just such and endeavor. Have you looked at some plans around here and generated some rough ideas for placement. If you can use a hammer and cut wood, you can do this with relative ease.
