well first I'll introduce myself, I live in Houston Texas and have been wanting a nice recording studio since I was in highschool. I started out with a mic hooked up to the computer and then later on went to making a "booth" from there things started expanding and my brother gave me a room in his house to make a personal studio for my friends and I to record in... This ran into problems because I need to be able to have access to the studio 24/7 and since it's at my brothers house that's not possible so now I'm considering getting an office space that was offered to me next to the liquor store I work at.... My main problem is that I don't want to start renting out the space without a basic blue print of what I'm going to do. Then again the landlord only let me see the building for a little while because he was on a tight schedule so I didn't get exact measurements of the place but I got the basic layout and was wondering if someone can help me if I can scan a sketch and upload it on here. I don't know how to do all that fancy sketchup stuff at all I can draw it on paper somewhat and scan it. is there another way of going about it? the building I'm planning on getting is 70 feet long and 15 feet wide with 11 feet ceilings. it already has 3 rooms in it and I was planning on utilizing those instead of building too much more to where I have to get a lot or permits. I will try and draw something out in photoshop and upload it to give an idea... for those who read this thanks and I'm not trying to waste anyones time or any of that.
In general you should read the "Don't even think of posting before you read this" and try to be a bit more specific... Did you say you had a sketch? Just scan it and upload it here, BUT make sure you resize it to 700px wide, not larger than that. best a
I want to make room 1 into the control room, room 2 into a vocal/ live room, , room 3 I wanted to keep as a regular bedroom type room because I know I'm going to spend a lot of time there anyways, I want to extend the bathroom into room 3 and make it a full bathroom with a shower. Right now it only has a toilet and sink. I want to turn the front area of the office space into a lounge with couches and T.v's playstation or what not. I was trying to keep the budget somewhere around 2500 or so. give or take..I'm really trying not to do too much construction so I wanted to basically keep the rooms as they are without moving any walls or demolishing anything.. Can anyone give me some advice or if you have a better idea? I have a little time to figure it out because I'm looking to get the space around October. I'm mainly going to be recording rap music so I wasn't even going to consider a live room but I eventually wanted to expand into recording bands so I figure I might as well do it all right now to be ready for the road later on.. Any input would be greatly appreciated I'm not a contractor or architect of any kind so sorry for the drawing I did in paint but it was the only thing I could do right now. again I would really appreciate some input, contructive criticism is welcome and sorry for my ignorance ahead of time.
