EDIT: This can all be disregarded now, sorry
Just thought i'd bump this up, Any input is much appreciated. Beck.
Just an update, the house fell through, due to building and pest. But even better news, we've found a new house with a massive basement (10+ cars). we'll be leaving space for two cars and storage, the rest will be turned into the studio. I'll update later with measurements etc.
Sorry to hear, but also glad to hear! :)
Ok here we go, finally got some measurements, i'll double check them again later on but heres a rough idea of the space and size. 1) Height = 2.8m 2) Floated concret ceilings. What i'll be doing in the room within a room and floating the two rooms. What i'd like is a control room and tracking room. Music genre = everything from acoustic to metal. This is in a basement, neighbour arn't a huge factor here, there will be little to no problems from noise leaking in or out from upstairs as the current ceilings/floor (upstairs) is concret. Anything else needed let me know. EDIT: Sorry measurements are in metres :D

Sorry guys, forgot to add a budget. At the moment i haven't worked out a reasonable budget, thats where i'd like to ask the question on here: what would i be looking at for material + labour in australia for this sized facility? Ideally i'd like to keep it under 40K AUD. I have family friends thats in the construction industry (foreman/builder/electrician/plumber) so labour wise quite cheap.
Beck - what area is for the studio? I assume it's the open area, not the theater? BTW - that budget should be ok if providing you don't go over the top and overbuild it ;) cheers john
Yes, brown shade is out, thats the already built theatre/lounge. Where that little brown noke is, is bricked out where also some external piping is on the wall. I'll have photos of the space in the next week or two. Large Area: 14.50m is an open area, with extra parking for 4 cars. Storage Room: Gets Damp, hoping to leave that as storage other things, other than the studio, so if that can still have access it would be great. Small Room: That hallway doesnt exist at the moment, i was thinking about doing a hallway to get access from control to live room. I'll attach a floorplan this afternoon how i was thinking about doing it. Thanks John.
Here's my take on it cheers john

Hey guys, Sorry it's taken so long to get photos up of the space. P.S Thanks for the design john, but found out that wall can't be knocked down.

Sorry, haven't had the internet running for a few days. Any thoughts on the above design?
Just wanted to bump this, can anybody critique my design? Also John, with this small design how much would i be looking at spending, if all work was done by myself and friends? 8)
Here's how I'd so it. If you do all the work yourself you could do it for maybe 10K - 15K cheers john

John, thanks thats a keeper.
Give me a call and I'll take you up to Tallebudgerra Valley and show you the real thing - when the doors arrive and the computer cut slot fronts arrive, the floor is polished, it's finished. :D cheers john

That looks awesome, i'll have to come up and see it. May i ask roughly how much are your services for the designs: 3d, 2d w/ measurments and the detail drawings along with a visit out to look at the space?
this project got pushed aside a few months ago due to my holiday and work. So i'm re bumping this up because i've had plenty of time to work out some designs and want i really need rather than what i "want". Bascially i'd like a contol room with a smallish vocal/guitar booth. Would be tight for drums but do'able with the right design. I've attached a rough layout. P.s red rectangles are doors. That toliet has been built put plumbing avaliable there depending on layout i didnt place a door to it.

This layout i saw which i quite like but working out how to ideally use the space.

p.s not looking to do soffit mounts for my monitors, they'll just be on stands - thought i'd mention that.
i think the bottom layout would work fine for your space. the small indent area would be your bathroom. of course John's drawing on page 1 would probably be ideal...
Just an update i apoted for a different layout and scrapped the toliet... construction starts monday! Without starting a new thread in the construction i'll just post it in here. Now i have a question with regards to the wall between both rooms.... I'm doing a double studded wall with 16mm gyprock on either side of the walls. Now i'm thinking of leaving about 25mm gap between the studs, do i leave it has an air gap or fill it with insulation? Also one more - what STC / RW (Australian term) am i aiming to achieve, regards to the wall between the rooms? ...acording to the SAE site, my wall should be about STC 57

I'd recommend starting a construction thread in the construction forum so you get the best coverage from folks about construction questions.... :) if you have insulation in the walls, then adding the additional insulation won't be needed as you want some air (although the insulation mostly counts as air as well) in between the walls.
