Hi All,
Great site!
I have a space with three rooms 20x30, 12x12, and 12x15. All of the rooms are adjacent and they have drop ceilings. I am going to build additional walls for soundproofing, but I was wondering if I could get away with 4" mineral wool rolled out above a ceiling tile with a 40 cac rating?
I'm on a limited budget, so I really don't want to sheetrock all of those ceilings if I can get away with doing it this way.
I'm sorry if this has been talked about before. I couldn't find it anywhere.
Peace.

Welcome to the forum.
To answer your question, probably not. It depends on what kind of "soundproofing" you're after. You haven't even told us what you intend to use the rooms for yet.
Perhaps you missed the "Before You Post" announcement. (I ask because you missed most of the "bold points" that are necessary for the real experts to provide assistance. (I'm not a real expert; I fake it. ;-))

Sorry, I'm new and a bit dopey.
I'll be recording music (all kinds). I'm in northern NJ about a half an hour from NYC.
I am not worried about eliminating the sounds altogether but there is an office next door and I need to keep the levels low enough not to be a nuisance. I know that's relative.
Again, my budget is about ten thousand dollars at the most.
It seems like your isolation requirements are quite high.
You also need to edit your profile to show your location. (Simply stating in a post where you are located isn't sufficient.)
You'll need to post drawings and provide extremely detailed information about the existing construction in order to get the most meaningful and valuble feedback here... Basically, follow all those bold points in the thread I pointed you to. There are no shortcuts.
