Hi!
We decided to sort out the acoustics in out rehersal room, so we would be able to record a proper demo...
The budget is really tight... Really tight! We're looking for the best cost:improvement ratio...
As we see it, we have two options...
one: Make te room good enough for tracking (good sounding) and mix elswere...
two: Try to make it a "one room studio"
The second probably costs alot more, and the room we have is also really small... Could someone confirm that please? Are we better off financially, building just a tracking room?
Would it make sense to float the floor? Floating the floor wouldn't have any effect on acoustics, only isolation, right? (We don't need isolation... the computer could be in another room... no neighbours...)
Room measurments are:
480cm; 15,744 feet
260cm; 8,528 feet
Ceiling is not straight (picture...)
210cm; 6,888 feet
240cm; 7,872 feet
Would you this would be a good start to plan the studio?
Is there any overkill? could we not build anything in the picture, and not have dramaticly worse acoustics?
We also thought of making some sort of "isolation panels", simmilar to the comercial products... With acoutsic foam on one side, if we wanted a "deader" room, and reflective surface, if we wanted "bright"... It would also give us the freedom of trying different "chamber" sizes (smaller or bigger room), wouldn't it?

hm... no comments? Am I so far off?
Just had another idea... What do you think of soffit mounting the monitors into the basstraps?
This would mean we can also mix when we're finnished tracking there, wouldn't it?
Aren't soffit mounted monitors only monitors, built into basstraps?
Again... thank you guys!
I'm really sorry, but I could use all the info I can get...
I've been lurking arroud this forum and Ethan Winer's site for quite a while, and now I can finally improve a room... But I have aboslutely too little knowladge to be confident in decisions...
Could anyonce chime in? Any help grately apretiated!!!
Thx guys!

Aloha 10,
Aloha and welcome to the forum! Congrats on your studio build!
Here's a few questions for you:
- Is your rehearsal room on the ground floor?
- Is your ceiling actually arched as shown in the drawing?

Comments like "under $500", "prefer to keep it under $1000 but can go more if necessary", "$300-$500 MAXIMUM", will give us a clue for realistic suggestions.
